DCS A-10
Ok been screwing around with this and found my x-45 isn't up to the task due to the immense amount of HOTAS Hats needed to run the weps.....

so......

I spiffed my #OOPS# up!

First got a 60" Mitsubishi DLP (used for $450)... put it at the end of my bed... yes its iNcReDiBle!!!! Its 3D ready too which I may goof with in a year or so.

Finally broke down and got a new stick! Wanted the new logitech 940 but I bought a Saitek X-65 off ebay. This thing is incredible! once you get it dialed (and yourself) the feeling of control from it is fantastic. Plus it has 8 hat switches! Its really nice having a non-moving stick when you're trying to manipulate the Hats.

Lastly I finally broke down and got a Track IR (not here yet) and that will fill in the last part of the puzzle. Im going to map one of the hats on the throttle to control the Tracking functions most likely using all four positions. I am using one of the throttle wheels for analog zoom (which has issues with being unstable at certain times)

After dicking around with the sim and the new stick I can say it is incredible! Ive been doing attack missions and hunting SAM sights on the deck is a blast. I can clearly see the need for a head tracker. The game now works with 64bit head tracking.

Since we all have this sim we should get into it. Its really amazing. I just wish the plane was a fighter plane but oh well.

Plus if Comabt Helo ever releases Ill be in heaven.

Lol, someone had a good harvest! Been thinking of a trackir but didn't want to invest if you weren't going to get into it. I think I'll order me one.

Re: DCS A-10
Im FINALLY getting one today! Too bad none of that other #OOPS# worked eh?

The game is pretty cool. (I still like falcon better though because the A10 is so fucking slow) But it is fun.

Ive been screwing around with Helios which lets you put gauges and MFDs on a second monitor.... it works pretty well but the app is buggy and he wants $70 for it (plus $20 for gauge packs) which is way too much.

And no the harvest wasnt that great and didnt buy this stuff which is bad for my wallet ... but Im in heaven.

Are u thinking of a new stick mike?

Any luck with TS? Im thinking of trying TS3 so maybe that will help. Me and Brad were on last weeknd so it is working.

Lots of concerns over shoddy build quality on the Track Clip Pro. Cheap plastic, brittle etc. It's also wired, lol.

I wonder if I can use my hat? That, or mod this thing to take the battery box I've been using for my freeetrack setup. It's built to mimic USB power.

Re: DCS A-10
the head clip would have to be the EXACT same size as the track IR clip. and it HAS to sit on the left side of your head.... no way to tweak it at all. I tried all last night.

As far as build quality, its breakable but not shitty quality or brittle. the wire is aminor pain but no big deal at all. just attach it to your head set wire.

I want to use my behind the ear headphones (which do not work with this thing) so Im going to get a hair band for women (Like you Mike) and use that with my phones.

When the clip is on you dont even notice it.

The thing does work good thats for sure. and unfortunately its the only game in town.

I use three joy hat positions
1 - pause
2 - center
3 - precision

Those combined with a wheel on the throttle (next to the hat controlling the track IR) and its all i need.

Apparently free track isnt working with Track IR games anymore unless you use some older driver and OMFG who knows what else.

If you do get one it is good.

My headset is wireless. Wires are so passe.

The clip is USB powered. I think I will try wiring it a 6v 500ma battery box. I'll order this weekend.

oh ya Im sure you can use that thing. Just seems like batts are heavy while wearing.

So are you getting a track ir or just the clip for freetrack?

Re: DCS A-10
now that i have some time on the TIR, I am finding the wires to sometimes get caught behind me and grab the clip and reposition it... kinda annoying.

Yeah, clip perma-attached to the side of my hat, with battery box on the back of the hat I bet would be OK.
